Invading from Chappaqua, New York, the five guys of WYLDLIFE are back with a vengeance in the summer of 2008, celebrating the release of Baby, Quit Sucking My Blood!, their very first full-length album. Together since their earliest days in junior high, Max, Dave, Sam, Kinney, and Tyler first crash-landed onto the Westchester, NY music scene in 2006 with the release of the underground classic and long sold out World Famous EP. They followed up the EP’s release with their first ever show in New York City, playing in front of a packed crowd in November of 2006 at Don Hill’s in Tribeca, a club that WYLDLIFE would return to almost a dozen times over the next year and a half when not rocking and rolling at other NYC live music haunts the Tank, the Knitting Factory, the late Mo Pitkin’s in Greenwich Village, and Goodbye Blue Monday deep in the heart of Brooklyn. WYLDLIFE also had the privilege of teaming up with legendary NYC graffiti artist, party promoter, and event organizer NYC Lase last September to play a set at Da Movement, a charity fashion and arts festival in Columbus Park in downtown Manhattan to benefit Invisible Children.
With a brand new, full-length album on the way, 2008 is poised to truly be the year of WYLDLIFE. Baby, Quit Sucking My Blood! is every bit as raunchy, seductive, and dignified as the live show WYLDLIFE has become known for. With kick-out-the-jams rockers “Overdose of Love” and “Zombies Are Taking Over New York” alongside the soulful “Erobotica” and the absolutely righteous “WYLDLIFE National Anthem,” the five get ample opportunity to display their range of musical and songwriting talent. Just take one listen to Sam Allen shred through “Seven” (one of three underground classics from the World Famous EP that have been rerecorded and remastered for the full-length debut) or kick back and let the melodic hum and drone of Dave Feldman’s voice on “Who’s Sorry Now?” seduce your feet into one last date with the dance floor. Other highlights include the swirling, intrepid backbeat of “Hit List”, held down by Max Hamlin on the bass and Tyler Houston behind the kit, and the rapid-fire riffery of David Kinney throughout “Predator,” one of the many standout tracks on an album that’s destined to fire the first shot of a rock and roll revolution, taking charge one unsuspecting eardrum at a time.
